This test equipment is capable of producing a jet of slurry to strike on test specimen for eroding material from its surface under constant velocity and flux distribution throughout the duration of test. A nozzle is used to direct slurry with velocity on to the specimen; nozzle is made of carbide material with length to diameter ratio adequate to achieve an acceptable particle distribution in the stream. Two sizes of nozzles are used their inner diameter are Ø3 & Ø 4mm and length is constant at 50mm, the erosion of nozzle to be monitored so that not to allow more than 10% variation on inner diameter.
A positive displacement pump delivers uninterrupted flow of water Variable, by operating the pump at different speeds. The velocity of water jet stream is determined by measuring the flow rated different flow rates are obtained.
A well-controlled feeding arrangement is provided to discharge uniform flow of particles into water stream. By controlling the wheel speed the desired Variable cc/min of particle flow rate is achieved.
The specimen for test is placed at a distance of 50mm from the tip of the nozzle; the specimen holder can be indexed to different angles for changing the angle impingement.
