Description

Scaffolding is a temporary structure used in construction to support workers and materials, or a teaching technique that provides temporary support to help learners gain independence and mastery of new skills.
Scaffolding, also called scaffold or staging, is a temporary structure used to support a work crew and materials to aid in the construction, maintenance and repair of buildings, bridges and all other human-made structures. Scaffolders erect and dismantle temporary metal scaffolding on structures and building sites, so that other people can work at height and carry out their jobs safely. Scaffolders may set up scaffolding around a structure, or inside a building undergoing construction, renovation or demolition.Scaffolding in child development is similar, though not quite so literal. This technique is defined by the use of demonstrations and intentional support offered by the instructor. Think of it as a temporary supportive structure, like construction scaffolding, that allows a child to learn large concepts in small chunks. As in many areas of the construction industry, there is an urgent need for skilled labour in scaffolding. Apprentices are therefore highly sought after by many employers and are often offered more than is usual in other sectors. Those who choose to train as a scaffolder can also expect a high level of job security. Scaffolding is an instructional practice where a teacher gradually removes guidance and support as students learn and become more competent. Support can be for content, processes, and learning strategies.
