Slotted Angle Racks

Slotted angle racks are shelving systems made from steel angle sections that have slots punched in them. These angle pieces are bolted together to create adjustable shelves and frames. They are modular and easy to assemble without welding. Such racks provide a flexible storage solution, allowing reconfiguration of shelf heights by moving bolts along the slots.

Type of Product
 Common variations include:

  • Open Type: Shelves open on at least two sides for easy access. Used for general storage where goods can be picked from either side.
  • Closed Type: Shelves enclosed on one or more sides (with panels or backs) for security or to prevent small items from falling.
  • Light-Duty vs Heavy-Duty: Depending on the angle size (e.g. 40×40 mm vs 80×80 mm) and thickness (gauge). Light-duty racks hold smaller loads (tens of kg per shelf), whereas heavy-duty can support hundreds of kg.
  • Number of Tiers: From single-tier display racks to multi-tier storerooms; height is customizable up to the structural limit.

Applications in Various Industries
Slotted angle racks are versatile and widely used:

  • Warehousing and Manufacturing: Storing parts, components, and supplies. Because they are adjustable, they fit varied item sizes.
  • Retail and Offices: Organizing stockrooms or backrooms. Smaller display versions can hold brochures or retail products.
  • Home and Garages: DIY shelves for tools, boxes, or household goods.
  • Libraries and Archives: Light-duty versions for file storage.

Material Selection Considerations
Slotted angle racks must be strong yet cost-effective. Typical material choices:

  • Steel Construction: The frames and shelves are almost always mild steel, roll-formed into angles. Mild steel provides good load capacity at low cost. These racks are usually powder-coated or painted to prevent rust.
  • Thickness and Gauge: Sheet thickness ranges from about 0.8 mm (light-duty) up to 3 mm or more (heavy-duty). Rack angle sections might be 40×40 mm to 80×80 mm in cross-section.
  • Fasteners: Bolts and nuts, usually zinc-plated steel, allow assembly. High-tensile bolts are used for heavy racks.
  • Shelf Material: Steel angle racks typically use metal shelves (sheet steel) or perforated metal decking. In some cases, plywood or plastic panels may be placed on steel frames for lighter loads.
